According to a tidbit in Politico, Vermont senator Bernie Sanders dined at John’s Grill with his team (he was in town for the Democratic National Committee’s summer meeting) and ended up acting like a total crankypants.
According to a follow-up post on SFGATE, restaurant owner John Konstin said Bernie “declined to shake hands and take photos and ‘was rude’ to staff.” The article also mentions: “He was just rude, not friendly,” Konstin said. “I think he was just hungry and didn’t want to be a politician. He lost my vote.” Mr. Hangry ordered lobster bisque, an heirloom tomato salad, and a Diet Coke. No word if his mood improved, but his wife reportedly apologized at their departure. I say it would have been a perfect time to check out a San Francisco dispensary and burn something else, chill out, and order a pizza, Bernie.
