Okay gourmands—get ready for a weekend of serious wining and dining—the second annual ~INSIDE THE KITCHEN~ event is coming up at the Ritz Carlton, Half Moon Bay. Granted, it's not until October 27-29, but any tickets purchases made before August 18 means 10% off, and I know how you like some deals.
The three-day event features nationally renowned chefs from Las Vegas and the Bay Area, Master Sommeliers and vintners from throughout the world, and a variety of guests hosting 19 events and classes. Which chefs? Try Julian Serrano, Bradley Ogden, and Laurent Manrique in the hizzy. Or a grand cru dinner with Hubert Keller of Fleur de Lys, Roland Passot of La Folie, and Ron Siegel of The Dining Room at The Ritz-Carlton. Care for an haute cuisine class with Claude Le Tohic, the Executive Chef of Joël Robuchon at the MGM Grand, or perhaps "Secrets of Basque Cuisine" with Gerald Hirigoyen? Or how about a rare vertical tasting of Dom Perignon led by Master Sommelier Robert Smith of Picasso at Bellagio Hotel and Casino and Eugenio Jardim, sommelier at Jardinière in San Francisco? Pretty fab, I know.
For those who need to get real for a moment, there will also be a morning field trip to Harley Farms Goat Dairy and Farmer John's Pumpkin Farm. The weekend's finale features chefs competing in the Chefs' Challenge, a 60-minute cooking competition that is a true "battle of the sexes," pitting San Francisco chefs Gerald Hirigoyen of Piperade and Laurent Manrique of Aqua against Melissa Perello of Fifth Floor and Elizabeth Faulkner of Citizen Cake. The two teams race to create a three-course meal based on one secret ingredient, and expert judges determine the winner in front of a live audience in stadium-style seating in the resort's Ballroom. You can check out the whole line-up of events and classes here.
"Inside the Kitchen" event tickets range from $100 to $300 per person. Ten percent of all "Inside the Kitchen" ticket proceeds will be donated to Meals On Wheels of San Francisco, Inc.
