Halloween

Not everyone wants to go out in costume for ~HALLOWEEN~, go dancing, or join the citywide mayhem. So for those of you who want to celebrate Halloween in a culinary fashion, here is a line-up of some events for you:

Sent Sovi in Saratoga will host its annual ~BIG SCARY BOTTLE~ event the day before Halloween, on Thursday October 30th. Guests are invited to come into the restaurant armed with a “big bottle” of wine (magnum or larger) to share with other diners. This is a great opportunity to sample some amazing wines from other people’s collections while enjoying a four-course dinner prepared by executive chef Josiah Slone. ~MAVERICK’S THIRD MYSTERY NIGHT~ is taking place on Halloween night, when chef Scott Youkilis and his kitchen staff will set out to deceive their diners and test their food knowledge. The night goes as follows: guests arrive and will be handed a score card which list the rules of the game. Each guest will pick a number out of the pumpkin to determine his or her fate of trick or treat! Three courses will be served, each paired with a wine. Guests will make their best attempts to pick at most four ingredients from each plate. An additional three points will be rewarded for those who pick the wine grape varietal. The points will be tallied on each scorecard, and whoever has the most points will win a nice bottle of wine. Zowie! 3316 17th St. at Mission, 415-863-3061.
  
Dine at ~TERZO~ on Halloween and help support Streetsmart4Kids, a non-profit organization that benefits local city youth and family programs. Chef Mark Gordon’s regular menu will feature the bounty of fall will be offered and Terzo will donate 10% of the proceeds of the evening to StreetSmart, including drinks at the bar. Costumes are optional, and valet parking is available for $10. Reservations are available from 5:30pm–11pm. 3011 Steiner St. at Union, 415-441-3200.
