Waterbar is hosting OYSTERFEST 2010, a daytime celebration featuring sustainable oysters, live music by local surf band Drifting Sand, and contests, including oyster shucking, oyster eating (I always have a hard time watching those competitions), and a hot sauce competition judged by local radio and food personalities.
This outdoor festival will feature small bites from oyster lovin’ restaurants and farms, including: Waterbar (oysters with housemade sauerkraut), Farallon (Drakes Bay oyster vichyssoise with Champagne), Nick’s Cove (oyster gazpacho), EPIC Roasthouse (crispy fried and wood oven-braised pork belly with Drakes bay oyster brochette and French caper remoulade), Nettie’s Crab Shack (oyster po’ boys), Drakes Bay Oyster Company (oysters on the half shell), and Beausoleil Oyster Company (oysters on the half shell).
Guests will also enjoy a selection of notable Napa Valley wines, including: Duckhorn Vineyards, Keenan Winery, Laird Family Estate, Neal Family Vineyards, Pride Mountain Vineyards, Staglin Family Vineyards, and Storybook Mountain Vineyards, among others. Local microbrews will also be poured, including Anchor Steam, Speakeasy Beer, and Trumer Pils. $30 donation per person includes admission, oysters, small plates, Napa wines, and local beers. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Surfrider Foundation, San Mateo chapter.
