You have lots of events to choose from this month if you want to eat well and do good at the same time, which is never a bad combination.
Rose Pistola is providing the provisions at North Beach Citizens’ eleventh annual spring dinner and fundraising event on Sunday April 15th—join them for an ITALIAN DINNER CELEBRATION at 6pm in the basement of Saints Peter and Paul Church. Tickets start at $150/adult and $75/child under 13. They’re also looking for volunteers from the industry—please email Lisa if you’re interested.
Celebrate the streets of San Francisco and raise some much-needed funds for City College of San Francisco’s Culinary Arts program at their annual WOK ON THE WILD SIDE fundraiser. Set aside Friday April 20th, 5:30pm-8:30pm, for a fun take on the cuisines of San Francisco’s neighborhoods with the students and chef instructors: Korean faves from Clement Street, Italian numbers from North Beach, chocolate à la Ghirardelli Square, and more, plus wine to wet your gastronomic whistle. Ed Vaughn will be the official auctioneer, with both live and silent auctions (look for wines, special meals, hotel packages with dinner, and more). Then take home a goodie bag with candies and a housemade spice mix. Tickets start at $75. CCSF Ocean Campus, Statler Wing, 50 Phelan Ave. at Ocean, 415-239-3152.
Support another worthy public culinary program in the East Bay on Sunday April 15th, when Contra Costa College’s Culinary Arts Management Department hosts their fifth annual FOOD AND WINE GALA. Expect a casual affair with over fifty local restaurants and wineries, chefs, artisan chocolates, a designer cake walk, gourmet mystery bags, and live and silent auctions. Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door, and include a souvenir wine glass. 11am-2:30pm. Contra Costa Campus, Athletics Annex, 2600 Mission Bell Dr., San Pablo, 510-235-7800 ext. 4409.
For another chance to give back in the East Bay, check out FIVE STAR NIGHT, the 25th annual fundraiser for Alameda County Meals On Wheels. The Champagne reception and four-course dinner starts at 6pm on Friday April 27th and includes a dessert buffet. Narsai David will emcee the meal, prepared by 14 Bay Area chefs, including Louis LeGassic of BayWolf, Rick Hackett of Bocanova, Jeff Dodge of La Farine, and Yo Matsuzaki of Ozumo. The special guest will be Julie Haener of KTVU. Alameda County Meals on Wheels provides warm meals for thousands of homebound seniors. $250.
