This rustic-casual outpost at the Ferry Building has a laundry list of lovable qualities (farmers’ market fresh ingredients, meaty items off the rotisserie, seasonal vegetables, Straus Dairy soft-serve ice cream) but the absolute star in my culinary galaxy is the Soul Food Farm egg salad sandwich. It’s served open face, and is best in class. Bright herbs like tarragon, chervil, and Star Route watercress play against the indulgent warm egg salad, all topped off with some bagna cauda butter and aged provolone. What? Cheese on egg salad? What a brilliant stroke. Also faboo when paired with a glass of the pink Bonny Doon Vin Gris de Cigare 2007. Talk about a perfect lunch.
Friendly service, lovely view, and there’s even an affordable three-course dinner nightly for $25 (until 8pm). Kudos and thanks to Daniel Patterson (Coi), Lauren Kiino, and chef Doug Borkowski for making a place I want to teleport to neighborhoods all over town.
