In February 2006, founder and editor Marcia Gagliardi launched tablehopper—a weekly newsletter about the San Francisco dining scene—and quickly gained status as the source for all the latest Bay Area restaurant and bar news, with hot tips, industry chatter, food and wine events, international travel guides, and more. Her influential column offers an insider and highly curated perspective on the local culinary scene, and is avidly read by a global audience of die-hard diners as well as the restaurant/bar industry. Her personal and snappy writing, on-the-ground reporting, and deeply supportive approach helped attract and build a vibrant community of dedicated readers who depend upon tablehopper as a trusted resource.

tablehopper has always been an independent publication, and in 2023 (for tablehopper’s 17th birthday), became member-supported. This new subscription model enabled Marcia to expand tablehopper’s content and coverage—partially as a response to these challenging post-pandemic times—so look for more stories on culture, lifestyle, and classic establishments. Her brand promise for this latest iteration is to help her subscribers live their best SF lives, which means celebrating many aspects of the Bay Area, from the culinary to the cultural, from the old school to what’s new. Marcia has lived in San Francisco since 1994, and has been writing about food and restaurants since 2002, so her well-seasoned perspective is shaped by deep knowledge and context.
