Some big news over at ~QUINCE~: with the departure of wine director Chris Baggetta, a new wine director has been named, Jai Wilson. He has worked as a sommelier at Jardinière since 2006, and prior to that was at Aqua.
Meanwhile, over at ~EPIC ROASTHOUSE~, Gordana Josovic has been promoted to the position of wine director—she was most recently a sommelier, assisting former wine director Petra Polakovicova.
Big congrats to all our local folks who recently passed the Advanced Sommelier Exam from the Court of Master Sommeliers, which includes Amy Racine of Son & Daughters, Evan Hufford of Saison, Jose Maria Aguirre of Kimpton Hotels in San Francisco, Cosmin Marinescu of The Battery, Matthew Montrose of Soutirage, and Vincent Morrow of The French Laundry. There were 23 total who passed from across the U.S.; 50 candidates from 15 states and 4 countries sat for the exam. Kudos to everyone who made an attempt—the amount of study and knowledge required to even take the exam is staggering.
