Sometimes, there are offers you can’t refuse. And so it goes for the ~TACOLICIOUS~ team, who will be taking over CAFFE MARIA in North Beach (the restaurant is closed, and the owner, Carlo Nuovo, is retiring). When I spoke with Tacolicious partner Joe Hargrave, he mentioned how excited he is to come to the neighborhood. (As for those wondering what this means for the very popular and nearby Don Pisto’s, both parties agree: their offerings are different enough, and ultimately it will be “all bueno” to be neighbors.)
They are starting construction in the beginning of March and hope to open in June. The 49-seater will have a full bar, plus some outdoor tables. They will be opening the space up, adding more light and moving the location of the bar. Of course, the trademark Tacolicious colorful tiles will be making an appearance. 1548 Stockton St. at Columbus.
For those who have been following the T-lish expansion throughout the Bay Area, yes, they are busy. They just opened their Palo Alto location (632 Emerson St. at Hamilton). As for the upcoming chicken project (MF Chicken) in the former Hahn’s Hibachi in Noe Valley, I am sorry to announce to the eager families in the neighborhood (Hargrave’s included) that that project is no longer happening. Not like they aren’t busy enough as it is. 1305 Castro St. at 24th St.
Say cheers. Photo of Tacolicious cocktails via its Facebook page.
