who is the tablehopper?

My name is Marcia (rhymes with Garcia) Gagliardi, and I’m a freelance food writer in San Francisco. I’m known by many as the “concierge” and “the enthusiastic reviewer” because I simply adore the experience of dining and going out, and for the past twelve years have been adventuring throughout the City far and wide like a culinary swashbuckler. I write a weekly column, Foodie 411 for the SFCVB on their “Taste” site; a monthly gossip column, “The Tablehopper” for The Northside; and features for Travel + Leisure, Fodor’s, San Francisco magazine, Travel Weekly, Where Magazine, DiningOut Magazine and Edible San Francisco. I had a good time contributing to the BlackBook List: San Francisco 2006 guidebook and writing up some Food and Drink nominations and stories for the San Francisco Bay Guardian. I was the Regional Managing Editor for Northern California for Gayot.com (2006–2008), but continue to write the weekly news and events for Gayot. I also wrote Where Magazine’s “Hot Tips-Dining” column each month of 2004, plus restaurant and nightlife reviews for Citysearch.com.

Since I’m always out and about, I get countless calls and emails from my friends and colleagues, asking, “Hey, what new place should I take my hairstylist to on Saturday?” (That depends; has your stylist ever made you cry?) and “Where can I get a good cocktail in Polk Gulch after work?” (Get thee to Vertigo.) and the one I hear the most after I tell someone I’m a food writer, “What’s your favorite place?” (Right now? The food at Laiola is mighty fine.). Since the questions keep coming, my answer is my weekly newsletter, “the tablehopper” and my complimentary concierge service, “tip please.”
